Preschool, Youth and Teen Classes
Art with Mom and Me Ages 3.5 to 6 Kathy Vencl F • 9:30-10:30am Beading Ages 10 and up W • 3:30-5:30pm Th • 3:30-5:30pm This class is for beginners and students with previous beading experience. This class will provide you with the opportunity to expand your knowledge and skill level in the art of beaded jewelry design. Students will be encouraged to experiment and develop their ideas by utilizing the eclectic array of raw materials provided. Have fun learning and creating something unique and personalized. Cartooning Ages 9 and up T • 4:30-6pm Have fun and improve your skills while drawing everything from funny animal characters to super heroes. Instruction includes actions, expression, and character design, layout, inking, lettering and coming up with ideas. A spiral-bound sketchbook is required, all other materials provided. Crazy Mixed Up Art for Preschoolers Ages 3 to 4 Kathy Vencl M • 9:30-10:30am Bring your favorite adult and discover, explore, and experience the wonderful world of art. This class will experiment with different mediums and create two- and three-dimensional masterpieces. Bring an art shirt. Drawing and Painting Ages 9 to 12 Kathy Vencl T • 4-5:30pm This class will focus on the traditional studies of art including color, design, principles and the elements in new and exciting ways. Students will study basic skills without feeling like they’re in school. Projects will be structured by what they have learned while exploring traditional and creative outlets. All abilities welcome. Exploring Art Ages 6 to 9 M • 4:30-6pm Kids will have fun playing games, engaging in activities and creating projects all designed to help your child fall in love with art. In a comfortable, low-key environment children will participate in drawing, painting, collaging and sculpting. Although projects will be structured, students will have freedom to explore their personal “style.” Please wear “art appropriate” clothes or bring a paint shirt. Pottery Mudwumps Ages 6 to 9 M • 4:30-6pm Th • 4:30-6pm S • 1-2:30pm Joan Rusek S • 1-2:30pm Come learn the basics of ceramics including wedging, hand building, glazing, and potentially using the potter’s wheel. We have plenty of art smocks if you need one. All skill levels welcome. Materials and tools provided. Pottery Prewumps Ages 3.5 to 6 Kathy Vencl M • 1-2pm T • 1-2pm Th • 9:30-10:30am Experiment with clay in the pottery studio for the fun of it. Let’s get our hands dirty and make some mighty awesome stuff that we will glaze and have fired. We provide an art smock and all the clay you can use. Leave Mom or Dad behind. Pottery with/without Mom and Me Ages 3.5 to 6 Kathy Vencl T • 9:30-10:30am
Children experiment with clay in the pottery studio for the fun of it. Pieces will be glazed and fired! Mom, Dad, or a Grandparent may stay to enjoy the class and have fun with the children. Rock, Paper, Scissors Ages 6 to 10 Kathy Vencl Th • 4-5:30pm Have fun working with forms of paper mache’, wire, wood, and plaster. We will investigate artists and contemporary sculptures. Time & size permitting, we will complete up to three sculptures. There is no limit to our imaginations and what we can do! Wild Wheels and Expressive Hands Ages 9 and up Joan Rusek T • 4:30-6:30pm S • 9-11am Learn wheel-thrown pottery and advanced hand-building techniques to create your own dinnerware-safe pottery, gifts, and decorative sculpture from a local award-winning potter. All skill levels are welcome. Materials and tools are provided.
